Ochsner Sport, which is one of Switzerland's leading sport goods retailers, has agreed to acquire the German sporting goods retailer Sport Sperk, according to a report by the German news service Markt Intern.

Ochsner Sport, which is part of Germany's Deichmann Group, opened its first stores in Germany earlier this year to capture spending by Swiss shoppers flocking across the border to take advantage of weak euro. If cleared by anti-trust regulators, the acquisition would provide the company with 13 Sports Sperk stores in shopping malls in Germany.

As reported by last week, Switzerland's sporting
goods retailers have been hit the hardest of five retail sector by the Swiss francs sudden appreciation against the euro this year.

Ochsner Sport generated sales of CHF 442 million in 2014, up about 7 percent from a year earlier. It is part of Dosenbach-Ochsner AG, a Swiss retail group that generated total sales of CHF 996 million last year. Dosenbach-Ochsner AG belong to 
Deichmann Group, a German-based footwear and sporting goods retailer that generated €4.9 billion in revenues in 2014.

Sport Sperk generated a gross profit of €13.1 million and net profit of €300,000 in 2014.
