Surf9 LLC, the official licensee of Body Glove International, will use 100 percent recyclable material from Plus Compound Technologies, to create a line of environmentally friendly footwear that is now on display at industry trade shows and will be in retail stores for Spring 2014.

The collection includes the EcoZero Flex and Curve sandals that are made with PLUSfoam and are therefore 100 percent recyclable. Using its proprietary compounds, Plus makes compounds  for manufacturers of branded consumer goods that often outperform the materials they are intended to replace such as traditional foams, rubber and plastics. Plus operates reclaim facilities in the US, Canada, Europe, China, Korea, and Japan where consumers can return any products made with PLUS components.

“It is important to not only engage in more environmentally friendly manufacturing practices but also to educate the consumers and promote more environmentally friendly purchasing practices,” stated Body Glove Footwear Vice President of Sales and Marketing Eli McGinty.

John Chenciner, CEO and the team at Body Glove have been advocates of PLUSfoam from the beginning, said Brett Ritter, CEO and Co-Founder of PLUS.

“From the moment they met with PLUSfoam we have been working diligently to provide the market with a performance-based, 100 percent recyclable alternative to traditional materials and we couldn’t be more excited about how these have turned out,” said Ritter.

With their decision to use PLUSfoam, Body Glove will eliminate an extraordinary amount of post-manufacturing waste that is typically associated with the sandal making process.

“Just like any products made with PLUSfoam, the Body Glove collection will be welcome into any of our global reclaim facilities” stated Michael Carr, associate general manager of PLUSfoam.
