“I am excited to have a new member in Colorado”. “Summit Canyon is a great example of the kind of retailer we are looking for in new members,” said David Matz of Grassroots Outdoor Alliance. The Grassroots Outdoor Alliance is the industry’s champion of independent outdoor retail and has the strength of all its members’ community outreach and conservation efforts. Adding Summit Canyon gives Grassroots a solid base in Colorado and the Mountain states.

Summit Canyon was founded in Glenwood Springs, Colorado in 1978 by Vaughn and Marcia Hadenfeldt. The goal was to provide apparel and gear that would be suitable from canyons to summits.  Current owners, Carl & Kathy Moak purchased the entire business; including two stores with coffee shops inJune of 2005. The company has grown to outfit all of the activities of its neighbors in the Western Slope of the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
