Kickoff the start to the summer this weekend, cheering on the U.S. SailGP Team as they battle nine other countries against the New York City skyline.
New York City is SailGP’s 12th stop on a 13-event global sail racing championship and delivers entertainment and fast boats. No sailing experience is needed to enjoy a great weekend on Governors Island!
Sailing’s best athletes will compete on identical 50-foot catamarans, flying over New York Harbor at 60-plus mph in front of the SailGP Race Stadium.
The U.S., Germany, Australia, Switzerland, and Rockwool DEN have all put their F50s through the paces and are practicing maneuvers in New York City’s Harbor.
The entire F50 fleet will head-to-head for the first time during today’s official practice racing, comprising three fleet races.
Official racing begins on June 22, with three fleet races scheduled to kick off at 4.30 pm EST.
It’s a battle to the finish! After two fleet races on June 23, the top three ranked teams will fiercely compete in the winner-takes-all final, which will ultimately decide the event winner.
