Baltimore-based STX, LLC signed a multi-year contract with all-time Euro Hockey League top scorer Jeroen Hertzberger. The deal will extend through the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro.

In his role with STX, Hertzberger will represent the brand on and off the pitch. He will also be involved in research and development, providing key product feedback to the company.

“I am thrilled to partner with STX,” said Hertzberger. “It has always been my goal to medal at the Olympics. After I tried an STX stick, I knew it would be the best equipment to compete with as I prepare for the 2016 games in Rio. I look forward to working with STX as they continue to develop top-tier field hockey products.”

Hertzberger, a striker and captain of Dutch field hockey club HC Rotterdam, is widely regarded as one of the most high profile men’s field hockey athletes in the world. He is well recognized for his numerous goals, speed and team leadership. During the 2008 Beijing Summer Games, Hertzberger played for the Dutch National Team and led them to the bronze medal match. He also led the Netherlands to the silver medal at the 2014 World Cup. Most recently, Hertzberger tied for top scorer at the International Hockey Federation’s 2014 Champions Trophy in Bhubaneswar, India.

“STX continues to gain momentum among the sport’s most prolific and influential players around the world. We are very proud that Jeroen has chosen STX to power his performance leading up to the 2016 games in Rio,” said Emily Hughes, STX Field Hockey Marketing Manager. “He joins a family of athletes that are shaping the future of the game not only through on-field performance, but through product insight as well.”
