Baltimore-based STX, LLC signed a multi-year contract with Jiri Hudler to represent STX in the National Hockey League (NHL).

Hudler, a center for the Calgary Flames, has made significant contributions to the team this season. His strong leadership has helped guide his younger teammates’ development, and as of the All-Star break, Hudler was second on the team in both points and goals scored.

“I am very excited to partner with STX,” said Hudler. “I was immediately drawn to the company’s strong emphasis on product research and technology. I look forward to using STX equipment and representing the brand in the NHL.”

Before joining the Flames, Hudler played six seasons with the Detroit Red Wings and won a Stanley Cup championship with them in 2007-08. The Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association named Hudler the 2006-07 Detroit Red Wings Rookie of the Year. Hudler began his career in the Czech Republic League and the Russian Superleague before being the first draft pick of the Detroit Red Wings in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. During the 2005-06 season, Hudler was named to the American Hockey League (AHL) Second All-Star Team and broke the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins team record with 60 assists.

“Jiri is an accomplished leader in the NHL and we’re thrilled to welcome him to the STX family,” said Matt Hoppe, Senior Global Brand Manager at STX. “Since first launching our hockey line we have received great feedback from elite athletes and signing with a veteran player like Jiri demonstrates our growth and that we are continuing to be a brand of choice for NHL players.”

As part of his role with STX, Hudler will compete with Surgeon 500 equipment on the ice and work closely with the company’s research and development team to provide insight and product feedback.

STX is a global sporting goods leader in the sports of lacrosse, field hockey and ice hockey.
