The Stracka Design Company, based in Houston, has acquired two patents
that will ensure exclusivity for The Stracka Line. The company said the
Stracka Line is a style of golf yardage book that will give highly
accurate information for reading a putt line while on the putting green.
Stracka notes that although it is a common perception that most yardage
books are simply souvenirs now and advancing laser technology and GPS,
most yardage books have in a way, become obsolete. The Stracka Line
yardage book and greens guide put value back in the book.
The United States Patent Numbers 6,296,579 and 6,638,173 protect the
intellectual property involved in making The Stracka Line yardage and
greens guide.
The technology used to produce this information gathers millions of
data points for each putting green to produce highly accurate
measurements. (+/- 3 millimeters) So when looking at the contour lines
and fall lines to analyze a putting line, one feels 100% confident that
the information they are looking at is accurate. There is no
subjectivity in the process.
The patents protect such things as the contour lines; smooth lines that
give elevation changes on the green represented in 1-inch increments.
The closer the lines are in relation to one another, the steeper the
slope will be. The contour lines are used to estimate how much a putt
will break. The patents also protect the fall lines, which will inform
what direction the ball will roll on the green.
Dr. Lee Robinson says, “I thought of this idea in 1999 and got my first
patent in 2001. I am very excited that The Stracka Design Company will
bring my technology to the golfing world.”
Jim Stracka – Founder – The Stracka Design Company says, “As The
Stracka Design Company continues to sign-up more golf courses to create
yardage guides and greens guides, I am very pleased that other yardage
book companies are excluded from using Dr. Robinson's technology.”
