Spyder Active Sports Inc, is consolidating its distribution operatoins at a Maryland facility used by Cloudveil Mountain Works, the technical outerwear and lifestyle apparel company it acquired earlier this year.

As a result, Spyder will close one distribution center in Boulder, Co. and retrofit another. The company had used the buildings for warehousing and order fulfillment for three decades.

Consolidating distribution with Cloudveil’s current outsourced distribution provider better positions Spyder to manage growth and improve performance throughout its supply chain, Spyder executives said.

“This consolidation allows us to realize both cost and operational synergies,” said Alan Leslie, director of global logistics. “It also provides us with an opportunity to improve our distribution capabilities by working through a highly sophisticated distribution facility.”

The Frontier space, in use since 2001, will be vacated while space at the Walnut Street facility will be reconfigured to manage warranty and repair, sample, showroom, uniform, corporate storage and retail presentation programs.

Spyder has offered separation packages to a number of temporary employees as an incentive for them to stay through the transition. They’ve also offered permanent positions to their full time warehouse staff.
