Spyder Active Sports Inc. has opened a production representative office in China to facilitate Spyder’s sourcing and product strategies.

Located in Guangzhou, approximately 2 hours from Hong Kong in southern China, the office is in a prime sourcing location due to its close proximity to high quality manufacturing and convenient transportation access.

Working in tandem with Spyder’s existing Bangkok, Thailand sourcing and production team, this office addition will enable both teams to focus on respective regional manufacturing relationships and act as factory source bases.  Both offices are configured for flexibility and service of all softgood products.

“The Guangzhou office is an investment in the Spyder brand infrastructure. It will assist us to flow smoothly during our rapid growth and increase our competitive advantage in sourcing,” said Chris Okazaki, director of Asia manufacturing.

Leading the Chinese office is Joseph Yeung, senior sourcing manager. Yeung began employment with Spyder on Nov. 20, 2007, and has been charged with establishing the office and managing daily operations. His experience includes sourcing, production, management, quality control, merchandising, and development with esteemed companies such as Pelle Pelle, New Balance, Ecko, and NIKE.  Yeung reports to Okazaki, who is based in Bangkok, Thailand.

Spyder recently acquired Cloudveil Mountain Works, producers of innovative technical outdoor and mountaineering apparel. The Guangzhou and Bangkok offices will also service Cloudveil’s production and sourcing needs.
