SportsEngine, Inc., a leading provider of sports relationship management software, announced that it has reached a milestone in its subsidiary National Center for Safety Initiatives’ (NCSI) partnership with US Lacrosse, conducting over 30,000 coaches and volunteer background screens for the organization.

Baltimore, MD-based US Lacrosse is the national governing body for the sport of lacrosse and serves more than 450,000 members annually. Background screenings for US Lacrosse member coaches are covered in full as part of the membership and are completed by NCSI, the exclusive background screening partner for US Lacrosse.

As part of the organization’s effort to bolster its commitment to safety and meet current safety guidelines and best practices, US Lacrosse requires all of its coaches to complete and pass a background check in order to be eligible to participate in lacrosse-related activities. The organization set a goal to have 30,000 coaches and volunteers background screened by April 2020 and US Lacrosse surpassed that goal in January 2020.

“A key part of our mission is to help provide safe and positive experiences for youth athletes and we are proud to see US Lacrosse leading the way to protect their athletes on and off the field,” stated Trish Sylvia, Vice President, NCSI. “US Lacrosse is a world-class organization setting the example for others in their commitment to safety and we look forward to continuing our partnership.”

“We’re proud of the progress we’ve made with NCSI as our background check provider,” stated Bruce Griffin, director for US Lacrosse’s Center for Sport Science. “We took it upon ourselves to evaluate the differences between background checks and we learned that while there are many options out there, not all background checks are created equal. As we begin to ramp up for the next season, we want our families to know that US Lacrosse stands for something vitally important – player safety.”
