Sports Supply Group, which is changing its name to BSN Sports Inc., has acquired Bethlehem Sporting Goods, according to a report in The Morning Call in Allentown, PA.
Bethlehem Sporting Goods is one of the Lehigh Valley’s oldest privately owned sporting goods merchants, started on the city’s South Side as a place to buy anything from baseball bats to trendy attire. The article noted that the business focus changed in 2005, when it moved from its W. Fourth Street building to a 20,000-square-foot building on the city’s Monocacy Street, shifting from retail sales to largely selling athletic gear to high school and college sports teams.
