Sports, Inc. said its 2010 Summer Show in Grapevine, Texas saw record attendance. Sports, Inc. was represented by more than 475 store personnel from 190 store locations. By design, 113 vendors attended the show exhibiting over 150 booths. Sports, Inc. members had the opportunity to work with 477 exhibitor staff and industry representatives.

First Team Sports Center of the Carolinas was named the 2010 Sports, Inc. Store of the Year.  Located in Greenville, SC, First Team was opened in January 1994 by Mike Miros.   Miros and his team focus on being a leading provider of athletic equipment and apparel for high school, college and recreational sports teams in upstate South Carolina and western North Carolina.

“Each year we have a hard decision to make because of the number of quality dealers that make Sports, Inc. the premier team dealer group in the nation,” states Matt Martin, the athletics marketing director for Sports, Inc.  “Mike and his team are truly supportive and are very worthy recipients of the 2010 Store of the Year award.”

Sports, Inc. Vice President of Marketing Todd Adams adds “Mike has not been a member for very long but he has really made a difference as a Sports, Inc. member.  Mike's staff is first class.  His bookkeeper, Kathy Hamby, is truly an asset and James Sparks and the rest of his sales force have to be at the top in the industry.  We are proud to be able to call them a member and a partner.”

2010 Sporting Chance Award

The Sports, Inc. Sporting Chance Award has donated nearly $500,000 to communities and the industry in the years since its inception.  Each February and June, the winner of a random drawing is awarded a $20,000 prize to be given to a worthy group(s) that promotes sporting goods in their market area.  The June 2009 winner was Gee and Bee Sporting Goods in Auburn, Maine.  Their award money was used to purchase baseball/softball equipment and supplies such as retractable batting cage netting and pitching machines and they also built dugouts at a local youth league field.  The June 2010 award of $20,000 was presented to Nicklasson Athletic in New Ulm, Minn.

Sports, Inc. is a national sporting goods buying and marketing organization with 406 members and nearly 550 locations in 49 states. The Sports, Inc. Athletics division consists of 201 team dealers and close to 40 athletic / full line retailers.
