Sports Chalet appointed Tom Tennyson to the newly created position of executive vice president-chief merchandising officer. Tennyson will be responsible for all merchandising and marketing initiatives as well as in-store merchandise presentation for Sport Chalet. Most recently, Tennyson served as senior vice president, general merchandising manager at Mervyns Department Stores…


He will report directly to Craig Levra, chairman and CEO.

Tennyson, 48, has an extensive retail background with more than 25 years of department store and specialty retail management experience.  At Mervyn's, he was involved with merchandising and marketing as well as logistics and systems.  Prior to that, Tennyson served as Vice President, Divisional Merchandise Manager at Galyan's Trading Company and also worked with Dick's Sporting Goods after it acquired Galyan's. Additionally, he held positions of increasing responsibility at Kohl's Department Stores, where he developed major improvements for product expansion, e-commerce, new store planning and replenishment. Tennyson also held several managerial positions for Dayton-Hudson Corporation in its department store division.
