Sole, the Vancouver, British Columbia maker of footbeds, joined 1% for the Planet July 30.

“We’ve lived the values of giving back for a long time and now we’re super excited to officially join the 1% for the Planet network,” said Mike Baker CEO of Sole. “We’re known for our mantra of ‘love and thanks’ and this is our way to extend that virtue back to our planet.”

To celebrate its new membership, on Friday, donated 10% of each full priced purchase made July 31 on www.yoursole.com directly to Protect Our Winters.

“Our member companies have donated more than $130 million to our environmental nonprofit partners to date,” Kate Williams, CEO of 1% for the Planet said. “Currently, only 3% of total philanthropy goes to the environment and, only 3% of that comes from businesses. The planet needs bigger support than this, and our growing network of member businesses is doing its valuable part to increase giving and support on the ground outcomes. Our members lead with purpose and commitment, characteristics that consumers support. We're excited to welcome Sole to our global network.”

1% for the Planet is a global network of businesses that donate one percent of annual sales directly to approved environmental nonprofit organizations. More than 1,000 member companies in 40 countries give back to the environment through more than 4,000 nonprofit partners.

Started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, former owner of Blue Ribbon Flies, 1% for the Planet helps people buy better products and protect the planet we play on. To date, our network has given more than $130 million back to the planet. To learn more go to: www.onepercentfortheplanet.org.
