Snow Shuts Nike Down for the Week

Nike closed its Beaverton, OR-area headquarters Christmas week and plans to re-open Monday, December 29, to avoid putting employees at risk. More than 6,000 people work at Nike headquarters, and many more visit every day to do business.

This is Nike's first weather-related closure since the mid-1990s. Spokesman Bob Applegate said the company was already slated to close for Christmas on Thursday and Friday, and a lot of people take the week off anyway. “It's a generally slow period,” Applegate told the Oregonian.
