Smartwool announced two new hires to the brand’s Canadian team.
“The growth of our team is indicative of our recent growth in the marketplace, as the brand has been gaining momentum for two years,” said Smartwool Canada Sales and Marketing Director, Corey Stecker. “Our new team will help us achieve our goal of becoming Canada’s leader in versatile, premium apparel and accessories for outdoor adventures. Our team is one investment among many as we strive to support and boost our specialty retail partners.”
In May, Marie-Élizabeth Lajoie joined the team as marketing coordinator and Deborah Mahamode joined as sales coordinator.
In leading the marketing efforts for Smartwool, Lajoie will manage media, PR, social media, and seasonal marketing efforts for the brand. Lajoie comes to Smartwool from Kombi Canada where she executed seasonal marketing plans, including brand video and photo shoots, in-store integration, trade shows, PR and social media. Previously, she was creative video specialist at MEC.
As the Sales Coordinator, Mahamode will support Stecker and the sales representatives across Canada. Mahamode was previously working for VF Outdoor Canada as a credit specialist, ensuring all accounts receivable were current. Prior to that, she was a customer service representative for Speedo.
Smartwool Canada sales and marketing director, Corey Stecker, will continue to lead the group as he and the team drive Smartwool’s continued push into the Canadian marketplace. Stecker, a well-known industry executive, has been with Smartwool for a year and brings nearly two decades of snow, action sports and outdoor experience to the Canadian market. Prior to Smartwool, Stecker was key account sales marketing director at The North Face. He has also held positions at Burton, Intrawest and WL Activewear.
The new team hires are effective immediately.
