Sierra Designs, long time manufacturer of backcountry equipment and apparel, has hired outdoor industry veteran Michael Glavin to the recently created vice president and brand manager position.

Reflecting a bigger commitment to brand growth and success, Sierra Designs added the new VP and brand manager position to enhance the brand's strategic direction, product planning, business development, and day-to-day operational leadership.  Glavin will be responsible for both the equipment and apparel categories, securing the highest level of coordination and alignment for one of the outdoor industry's most innovative brands.

“Mike comes to us with over 17 years of outdoor industry experience and a proven track record of driving growth for a variety of well-respected technical outdoor brands,” says Brett Jordan, CEO for Sierra Designs equipment. “We are dedicated to the continued growth and success of Sierra Designs and welcome Mike and his extensive history of brand success.”

Sierra Designs identifies brand, product, and people as the three key elements to future growth.  Along with the imminent contracting of an ad agency and the recent launch of the game-changing DriDown insulation, Glavin represents Sierra Designs' latest investment in talented people.

Glavin will officially begin with Sierra Designs on February 1, 2012 and will report directly to CEO of Sierra Designs equipment Brett Jordan and CEO of Sierra Designs apparel Bob Orlando.

Glavin's professional experience includes successful track records as Director of Sales and Marketing with MSR, helping establish MSR as a leading technical brand; as Director of Marketing at Cascade Designs, re-launching the Therm-a-Rest brand; and as an independent contractor with a client list including Outdoor Research, Mountainsmith and Stanley thermos.
