The SIA was recently awarded five different awards for its newly-launched consumer site, snowlinkjr.com. Both the website and the game, Icebox Maniacs, garnered top recognition nationally and in the Denver area. SIA developed snowlinkjr.com with the Factory Design Labs group.
Snowlinkjr.com and Icebox Maniacs received Gold ADDY® Awards from the Denver Advertising Federation, a local chapter of the American Advertising Federation. Snowlinkjr.com took home the gold in the Interactive Media consumer website division while IceBox Maniacs won in the Animation of Special Effects category. Both entries were also submitted at the District level and secured Silver ADDY® Awards in their respective categories. In each category, a Gold ADDY® is recognition of the highest level of creative excellence while those considered outstanding and worthy of recognition receive a Silver ADDY®.
The site completed the trifecta by receiving a bronze award in the Website – General Excellence category from the Society of National Association of Publications (SNAP). The EXCEL awards program judges nearly 1,000 magazines, newsletters, scholarly journals, electronic publications and websites in the areas of editorial quality, design, general excellence, most improved and more. This years contest received more than 1,070 entries in the various categories.
“This has been an exciting year for our new consumer initiative Project Kids,” said Scott Mellin, director of sales and marketing for SIA. “Winning these awards attests to the hard work of the SIA marketing team and our focus to help grow the snow sports industry. This site is just one component of many programs around the country that are driving the message of snow sports to kids, like Snow Monsters, the grade-school passport programs, WinterKids, Winter Feels Good and more.”
Snowlinkjr.com was developed to educate and entertain the 14-under age group, or more commonly, Generation Y. The site introduced visitors to winter sports through games, educational tools, contests, athlete interviews, videos, online coloring tools, chat rooms, downloadables and other entertainment concepts.
