Schutt Sports, the Official Base Supplier of Major League Baseball, is partnering with the Southeastern Conference for their 2004 baseball and softball tournaments. Now in its sixth year of involvement with the SEC, Schutt supplies on-field products for the football, baseball, softball, and men’s and women’s basketball championships.

This year’s SEC Softball Championship takes place this week in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, May 13-16. The SEC Baseball Championship will be held in Birmingham, Alabama, May 26-30. The winner of each tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, which begins May 20 for softball and June 4 for baseball.

The agreement teams Schutt with one of the premiere conferences in the country. For both the baseball and softball tournaments, specially logoed Schutt Hollywood Bases will be used on the field for every game. This unique top logoing technique was introduced by Schutt in 2000 and debuted with special edition bases and home plates for the Yankees / Mets “Subway World Series.” Today, every Major League Baseball stadium uses bases marked with the home team’s logo plus the MLB logo. Schutt Sports also creates bases for all Major League Baseball Jewel Events such as Opening Day and the All Star Game.

“Our affiliation with the SEC shows our continued commitment to participating at the highest levels of baseball and softball,” said David Jones, Director of Marketing for Schutt.

“The Southeastern Conference is pleased to continue its long-standing relationship with Schutt Sports,” said SEC Associate Commissioner Mark Whitworth. “We are committed to providing our student-athletes and coaches with the opportunity to participate in intercollegiate competition at the highest level. The involvement of Schutt Sports ensures that the SEC is utilizing top quality equipment in its championship events.”

In football, Schutt is the “Helmet of Choice” of the Southeastern Conference and an “Official Equipment Supplier for SEC Football FanFare”. In addition, Schutt’s Gold Point Ultimate goal was used in Atlanta and Nashville as the “Rim Supplier of the 2004 SEC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments” and also an “Official Equipment Supplier for SEC Basketball FanFare”.
