Shopatron, the e-commerce solution provider, said it added more than 85 sporting goods clients this year.

Sporting goods, one of Shopatron's most established industries, encompasses several sectors, including cycling, watersports, snowsports, action sports and outdoor sports. Brands that came on board in 2011, like Powderhorn, Quickpoles, Academy Snowboard, and Bolle will exhibit at the January SIA show. Other Shopatron clients attending the show include international brands K2 and Rossignol, who have seen significant online sales growth in their three years with the company.

Shopatron's unique eCommerce solution helps brands sell online without competing with their valued retail partners. Sales completed on a brand website are passed to a local area retailer for delivery to the customer. This solution not only increases online sales, but increases local, in-store sales for Shopatron clients as well.

“This is a great program that will help Powderhorn drive overall sales, yet still partner with our existing retailers for local fulfillment,” said Doug Saunders of Powderhorn. “Shopatron is another tool we are using to broaden the Powderhorn outreach for the benefit of our specialty retailer base.”

Action sports and snowsports were two very successful industries using this eCommerce model in 2011. Shopatron action sports brands saw 16% average year-over-year same-store sales growth for the year, while snowsports shone even brighter with a 30% average increase.

“We are excited to bring good news to brands and retailers at the upcoming SIA and OR shows,” says Shopatron SVP of Marketing, Mark Grondin. “It gives people a reason to be optimistic in a challenging economy, and it gets brands and retailers talking about how they can work together to take advantage of the online sales channel, rather than being afraid of the subject.”
