The Sports & Fitness Industry Association on Monday afternoon decided to cancel the National Health Through Fitness Day, which was scheduled to take place Tuesday and Wednesday in Washington, DC.
According to SFIA communications and marketing coordinator Alli Schulman, “Too many companies had instituted travel bans and the coronavirus concern was just too high – it ended up being our only option.”
Here is the official note SFIA sent to attendees.
…
Dear National Health Through Fitness Day Guests:
National Health Through Fitness Day events (on March 10th – 11th) are cancelled. Given the circumstances, with increasing concerns over the coronavirus and many companies instituting travel bans, reflecting on the utmost consideration for our attendees, it is in the best interest of our guests to not carry on with this year’s event.
All registration fees will be refunded. (We will send you a refund receipt in the coming days.) Please contact the hotel directly to cancel your room and notify hotel staff that you are cancelling due to coronavirus.

We sincerely regret this decision, but under the circumstances, it was our only option. We are considering our options to reschedule at a later date, and we will be back in touch with you as soon as possible.
We thank you for your continued support! Please keep promoting the pro-activity message and we encourage you to directly reach out to your congressional representatives and ask them to #PassPHIT.
We are closer than ever to getting more Americans active!
Sincerely,
