Saris Cycling Group Inc. has sued Giant Bicycle, claiming its Cyclotron bicycle trainer infringes on Saris' U.S. Patent No. 7,011,607, entitled “Variable Magnet Resistance Unit for an Excercise Device.”

The patent, issued in 2006, covers Saris' design for an automaiticaly adjusting magnetic resistance unit for a bicycle trainer. The unit increases the degree of resistance a rider encounters as they pedal faster on their trainer to better simulate road conditions.

The suit seeks to enjoin Giant from selling any infringing trainers and pay compensatory damages and court costs.
