Runner’s World and Salomon are teaming up to help runners end the year on a high note with the latest edition of the Holiday Run Streak Challenge.

Starting November 22, the brands are challenging runners to run at least one mile per day, every day, between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, in order to stay active during the holiday season. Participants can share updates and progress with fellow streakers using the hashtag #RWRunStreak.

“Because it is just too easy to skip a workout when it’s brutally cold and you’re ready for that second helping of pumpkin pie, Runner’s World invented the #RWRunStreak,” says Kit Fox, special projects editor at Runner’s World. “Now in its seventh year, the challenge encourages our community to run at least a mile a day between Thanksgiving and New Years—41 straight days.”

To keep their streaks alive, runners have done everything from running laps around kitchen tables during snow storms to braving early-morning hotel treadmills after red-eye flights to fighting through hair-freezing temperatures. Despite these obstacles, the Run Streak is a fun, community-oriented event, with an emphasis on staying healthy and injury-free during the cold winter months.

“Desperation today. I did a mile-and-a-half around the table in my sewing room. Tried outside, but about fell and busted my behind. My husband came home, shook his head, and said, ‘That’s dedication,’” said one participant during the 2017 challenge.

To help runners skip the sewing-room laps this year, Salomon makes a number of winter-specific running products, such as the metal-studded Spikecross CS, the reflective Nocturne road and trail running shoes, and insulated-yet-breathable apparel to keep runners warm and cozy.

“We are partnering with Runner’s World on the Streak because, as a leading running brand, we feel this is an opportunity to empower the running community. The holidays can be a busy and stressful time, even for the most dedicated of athletes, and we want to inspire people to play,” says Jenny Taylor, brand director for Salomon in North America.
