Saf-Gard Safety Shoe Company, the supplier of top-quality safety shoe footwear, recently completed the purchase of Michigan Industrial Shoe, and Great Lakes Industrial Shoe.
The sellers were president and CEO, Mike Girolami, and vice president and treasurer, Lisa Girolami.
Like Saf-Gard, Michigan Industrial Shoe and Great Lakes Industrial Shoe have provided quality safety footwear to their customers for decades and place a premium on supplying the latest comfort features and safety technologies.
For Saf-Gard this acquisition was a natural fit since Michigan Industrial Shoe is also part of the Hytest Network and carried the same brands as Saf-Gard. In addition to Saf-Gard’s twenty-one retail locations across the eastern seaboard, the safety shoe provider will now be taking up operations at the Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio facilities that previously belonged to Michigan Industrial Shoe and Great Lakes Industrial Shoe, respectively.
Girolami said, “This is an extremely bittersweet moment for both Lisa and I. We feel strongly that the sale provides the best, long-term growth path for both Michigan Industrial Shoe and Great Lakes Industrial Shoe. We also know that this change comes as a big surprise to everyone. We made this difficult decision after much thought and soul searching, due to its lasting positive effect on both MIS and GLIS.”
Saf-Gard’s president and CEO, Pat Kubis had the following to said, “We are excited to have Mike’s dedicated team join Saf-Gard, and look forward to providing expert service to all the customers MIS and GLIS have served for nearly 60 years in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio.”
Girolami closed by stating “Patrick and I have had a long relationship as we have both built strong second-generation family businesses, and I trust Patrick to carry that forward.”
