Russell Athletic renewed its sponsorship with hometown partner Georgia Tech, making Russell the Official Uniform and Apparel of the Georgia Tech Athletic Association (GTAA) for the next five years.

The sponsorship and apparel agreement runs through the 2007-2008 year and gives Russell Athletic the exclusive outfitter status of the Yellow Jackets' football, men's and women's basketball, baseball and softball teams. Russell Athletic officially first became the outfitter of the Yellow Jackets in January 1997.

“We're proud to outfit teams from Georgia Tech University because they embody the same values as the Russell Athletic brand — hard work, integrity and accomplishment,” said Rod McGeachy, vice president of marketing for Russell Athletic.

“The relationship also allows Russell Athletic to test new uniform technologies, including its new heat management fabrics like Stretch Mesh and Dri-Power(TM), to a variety of high-caliber athletes,” McGeachy added. “In addition, the players will be the first to use the high-performing, cutting- edge technologies.”

Currently, the Yellow Jackets' men's and women's basketball teams wear Russell Athletic's Dri-Power(TM) technology, a comfortable, 100% polyester fabric that wicks moisture away from athletes' bodies, keeping them dry and comfortable for peak performance.

“Russell Athletic has a solid reputation for being an authentic, high- quality, and high-performance athletic brand that is a perfect match for the premier athletes that attend Georgia Tech. Our athletic program is proud to wear a uniform made by Russell Athletic,” said Dave Braine, athletic director of Georgia Tech.
