Tommy Morrison, senior vice president of sales for Rocky Brands, overseeing the western division at
Rocky Brands, which includes the ROCKY Western and Durango brands, has retired. Larry Miller has been named vice president of sales.
For the past five years, Morrison, a 38-year footwear veteran, had held key sales management positions at Rocky Brands. He was instrumental in orchestrating a smooth merger in 2005 between Rocky Brands and EJ Footwear, where Morrison was president of wholesale sales, David Sharp, president and chief operating officer of Rocky Brands,
said.
“We pass along this news with mixed feelings,” Sharp said. “Tommy's reputation is legend. He is loved by customers and salespeople alike, always willing to strike a compromise that is good for our company and our customers. He is known as a man of his word and values honesty and integrity in his relationships. He will be missed by all that he touched at Rocky Brands and we wish him, and his wife, Pam, all the very best in their new chapter together.”
During his tenure as president at EJ Footwear, Morrison distinguished himself by doubling sales of the Georgia Boot and Durango brands during a turbulent time in the footwear industry. During his career, he held various senior management positions with Genesco Shoe Corp. and Acme Boot Co.
Before entering the footwear industry in 1972, Morrison earned a B.A. in Agri-Business from Austin-Peay State University. After a stint in Vietnam serving in the U.S. Army, he joined Acme Boot Co. and became a road salesman. He was eventually promoted into sales management.
