Wolverine World Wide plans to close its plant in Jonesboro, AR, in six to nine months, according to KAIT-TV Region 8 News.

A Wolverine World Wide spokeswoman said the Jonesboro, AR facility will close and all production will be consolidated into the company's facility in Big Rapids, MI.  She said that when Wolverine World Wide first announced its plans to realign manufacturing in January, it planned to have the Jonesboro plant be focused on Oxford production while the Big Rapid facility would focused on boot production. As the global economic slowdown has continued throughout this year, the company made the decision to consolidate all the production into our Big Rapids facility.

The spokeswoman said 135 employees were notified Tuesday morning they would be laid off in 60 days.  The article on www.kait8.com said wolverine has operated in operated in Jonesboro more than 50 years.
