Stage Stores, Inc. has reportedly laid off more than 20 percent of its corporate staff and plans to close more than 70 of its approximately 700 stores, according to a report from Retail Dive.

The closures include more than 60 stores under the Gordmans off-price nameplate, as well as 10 that were to become Gordmans. The firm had already announced plans to close 40 locations last fall. Other banners owned by the company include Bealls, Palais Royal, Peebles, Goody’s and Stage

The Wall Street Journal reported on February 11 the company was considering a bankruptcy filing.
