Liz Robert, former chief executive of Vermont Teddy Bear, and Vermont Works, a private equity firm, are exploring making a bid to acquire Ibex Outdoor Clothing, according to a report in Valley News.
“We’re heartbroken by yet another iconic Vermont company being sold outside the state or even outside the country,” Bob Zulkoski, a co-founder of Vermont Works told the newspaper. “We think Liz is the right person to relaunch (the Ibex) brand successfully and rebuild the jobs here in Vermont.”
On December 1, Ibex released a letter confirming that it’s “in the process of closing down its current business.” The merino apparel brand had indicated earlier in the summer that it was shutting down its wholesale operations to focus on retail.
