Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. has filed a preliminary land development
application for a new, larger headquarters on Pittsburgh International
Airport property.

According to Calkins Media, plans call for an expanded,
million-square-foot facility in the North Field development adjacent to
Pittsburgh International. Dick's current headquarters in the same area
is 200,000 square feet. Findlay Township Manager Gary Klingman
told Calkins Media that plans include a 116-acre campus including a
corporate aircraft maintenance hangar, positioned along the north
runway. The hangar would be owned by the Allegheny County Airport
Authority.

Jeff Hennion, Dick's senior vice president and chief marketing officer,
told the Pennsylvania news service that Dick's has been leasing two
floors of additional office space in RIDC Park West in the Oncology
Nursing Building. The extra space is needed because of the company's
rapid growth and success since the construction of its current
headquarters. “We've just outgrown our current building,” Hennion said.

Pittsburgh papers in September had first disclosed that Dick's was
seeking larger headquarters near the airport due to its rapid
expansion. Dick's built its current $9 million, four-story headquarters
in Findlay Township in only 2003. It originally relocated to Pittsburgh
from Binghamton, N.Y., in 1994.
