REI Co-op will open a new store in Mechanicsburg, PA in fall 2021, marking the Co-op’s fifth location in the state.
“The Cumberland Valley is home to some of the best places for outdoor recreation in the state making Mechanicsburg an exciting place to continue to connect our Pennsylvania members to their favorite activities,” said Brian Harrower, REI, regional director, Mid-Atlantic. “In addition to offering the best gear, we also look forward to investing in the local trails, parks and places that make this region so special.”
REI has been part of the Pennsylvania community for nearly 30 years and, in 2019, it invested over $100,000 in local outdoor nonprofits. This investment included funds for the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation, Natural Lands Trust and Hawk Mountain Sanctuary Association. As REI gets closer to its opening in Mechanicsburg, the Co-op plans to invest further in the local outdoor community.
The 22,400 square-foot store will be located at 6391 Carlisle Pike. Other Pennsylvania stores include Conshohocken (opened 1991), Pittsburgh (opened 2005), Settlers Ridge (opened 2009), and King of Prussia (opened 2016).
