REI Co-op will open a new store in Marina del Rey in spring 2023. The 24,000-square-foot site is the retailer’s 30th store in California.
“A Marina del Rey location will allow us to better serve REI members and others who live, work and visit the amazing coastal community,” said Steve Lochan, REI’s divisional vice president of retail. “The store will be next to a path popular with those who enjoy time outside for fitness or relaxing in the sun on a waterfront patio or boat.”
The store’s address is The Boardwalk of Marina del Rey, 4655 Admiralty Way. Other REI stores in the region include Acadia, Burbank, Manhattan Beach, Northridge, Santa Monica, and Woodland Hills.
REI reported it has 4.6 million members in California, including 1.7 million in Los Angeles (designated marketing area).
In 2021, REI said it invested “$7.1 million in 450-plus nonprofits across the U.S. of which more than $1.2 million went to 75 nonprofits in California”
REI has 179 locations in 42 states and the District of Columbia.
