REI Co-op will open its first retail location in Gretna, NE, on September 23. The 22,000-square-foot space, located at 21201 Nebraska Crossing Drive, will service nearly 21,000 residents in the state who have an REI membership, of which more than 14,000 live in Gretna, Lincoln and Omaha.
“REI aspires to be at the center of people’s active lifestyles,” said Josh O’Connell, REI store manager. “Our team of 57 associates has a passion for the outdoors, and we are ready to be a resource to the community.”
The company invested $20,000 in three regional nonprofits timed with the store’s opening, including Fontenelle Forest, Keep Omaha Beautiful, and Trails Have Our Respect (THOR).
REI has 177 locations in 41 states and the District of Columbia.
