Redfeather announced its charitable involvement in several
community organizations outdoor programs to endorse active lifestyles and snowshoeing as a sport. With 28% sales growth from last year and increased awareness of
snowshoeing as a sport throughout the nation, Redfeather is giving back to the community. Redfeather is donating
2.5% of overall sales to many organizations that have found its members can really benefit from snowshoeing.
“We recognize the need to keep our society active through the winter
months,” said Allan Kettlehut, president of Redfeather. “By donating our
snowshoes to various programs and fundraising events, we are hoping to
increase the level of awareness of the sport and promote how easy it is to
stay physically active.”
Hundreds of pairs of snowshoes have been donated to a variety of charitable
organizations fundraising events including: The National Multiple Sclerosis
Society, Outward Bound, Mountain Rescue, Womens Wilderness Institute,
Middle Park Land Trust and Bureau of State Parks, National Sports Center for
the Disabled and numerous educational programs to name a few.
In addition, Redfeather has partnered with several programs and
organizations throughout the country. A few of these include:
Snowshoes-for-Schools Program
Redfeather has teamed up with many schools throughout the country to offer
its snowshoes as part of their core physical education curriculums and take
advantage of the Physical Education for Progress Act (PEP). The federal
government has implemented the PEP and appropriated approximately $50
million dollars in grants for schools to purchase equipment. This Act has
helped schools to overcome the biggest financial obstacle of affording new
equipment for their physical education curriculum to create programs that
teach kids the life long physical and emotional benefits of exercise.
Snowsports Industries of America (SIA) in Pennsylvania
Redfeather is participating in a pilot program in conjunction with
Snowsports Industries of America (SIA) in Pennsylvania where they are
educating students and teachers about the benefits of outdoor exercise in
the wintertime and introducing them to snowshoeing. Redfeather is actively
pursuing schools to include the purchase of snowshoes as part of their
standard physical education programs.
National Sports Center for the Disabled
Redfeather is marketing a unique model called the “Freedom” to benefit the
National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD). A total of 5 percent of its
total sales will go to the NSCD and an exclusive hangtag was created to
illustrate this contribution to consumers. The goal of the NSCD is to
provide quality outdoor sports and therapeutic recreation programs that
positively impact the lives of people with physical, cognitive, emotional,
or behavioral challenges.
Special Olympics
Redfeather provides snowshoes at a dramatically reduced rate to the Special
Olympics to help empower individuals with intellectual disabilities to
become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through
sports training and competition.
AARP-Redfeather Snowshoe Festival
On March 12, 2005, AARP and Redfeather Snowshoes will join forces to host
the 4th Annual AARP-Redfeather Snowshoe Festival at Devil’s Thumb Ranch near
Tabernash, Colo. In support of AARPs Wellness Program, Redfeather will have
snowshoes available for all who wish to try out the fun obstacle course or
participate in the 3K run/walk or 1K fun/walk. This is a fun event where
seniors can experience the benefits of snowshoeing first hand while enjoying
the outdoors and low impact exercise in a beautiful venue.
