Thule Group initiated a recall in partnership with NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) of the Tepui Hybox 8001HB103, 8001HB112, Tepui Hybox Wedge, 8001HB203, Thule Tepui HyBox, 901100, and Thule Tepui HyBox Wedge, 901110, rooftop tents.
Thule said on a recall page on its website, “At the Thule Group we take quality very seriously, and product safety is our top priority. Unfortunately, we have identified a defect of the identified rooftop tents where, when exposed to certain environmental and driving conditions, there is a risk of the tent becoming detached from the vehicle’s roof while driving, which could cause a vehicle crash or injure nearby pedestrians.”
Consumers are being encouraged to immediately stop using the recalled products and contact Thule Group to arrange for the return of the rooftop tent and register for a refund or a replacement rooftop tent, free of charge.
Only models affected and manufactured between January 1, 2018 and April 28, 2021:
- Tepui Hybox rooftop tent Product number: 8001HB103, 8001HB112
- Tepui Hybox Wedge rooftop tent Product number: 8001HB203
- Thule Tepui HyBox rooftop tent Product number: 901100
- Thule Tepui HyBox Wedge rooftop tent Product number: 901110
