Nike Inc. issued a voluntary recall of their football helmet chin straps after several reported incidents in which the plastic cup guarding the chin broke after contact. Nike said it had received incident reports that include two concussions related to the chin strap being recalled.
The recalled chin straps were sold in both youth and adult sizes with one of four style numbers located on the inside of the cup protecting the chin: FA0016 046, FA0016 130, FA0021 046, or FA0021 130.
Nike sold the chin straps through sporting goods retailers as well as on their site from April 2006-October 2007. The models came in black/grey or white/grey color combinations.
Nike urged individuals with this Nike chin strap to stop using the product immediately and contact Nike for a product voucher. For additional information, contact Nike at (888) 583-6453 , or visit the firms Web site at www.nikebiz.com
