Rebel Sport Limited’s group sales revenue for the nine months ended 27 March 2004 increased by 7.6% to $226.97 million when compared to the nine months ended 29 March 2003, including sales revenue from the Glue lifestyle stores. Sales on a same store basis, same number of days, for the same period increased by 0.9%. For the three months ended 27 March 2004, group sales revenue increased by 6.7%, and on a same store basis increased by 1.8%.

Sales were in line with expectations given the “patchy” trading conditions currently being experienced in the industry. The footwear category, in particular, continues to struggle as consumers are exposed to a much larger leisurewear offer in other emerging non-sport categories.

Areas of opportunity being developed are centred around our female consumers, the outdoor category, exercise and bicycle categories. Sales activity for the nine months ended 27 March 2004 is not strictly comparable with the prior year due to prior period promotional differences such as Soccer World Cup, Rugby World Cup and the inclusion of one week of our half yearly clearance, which is not included in the current period, having been completed in June 2003.
