REACTOR Watch has named Hayter Communications the companys agency of record to drive the growing brands national public relations efforts.
REACTOR was launched in 2003 by Jimmy Olmes, the co-founder and former owner of Freestyle watches. Olmes and his partners founded Freestyle in 1980 and developed the brand into the leading watch for the action sports market before selling the company in 1999. Olmes stayed on as president until November of 2002 then opted for an early retirement. A sedentary lifestyle didnt match his drive and personality so he created a new brand and niche in the watch market with REACTOR.
“REACTOR is in a unique position in the market,” said Ryan Hayter, president, Hayter Communications. “Nobody else is competing at the same level of styling, performance and durability. The watches appeal style- and price-wise to action sport and outdoor lifestyle consumers yet compete on a quality level with the top Swiss brands.”
Olmes launched the brand in late 2003 and initially built his retail base in 2004 through surf and action sport shops across the country. He intends to grow the brand in the U.S. and Canada through specialty outdoor, winter sport and progressive watch retailers in 2005.
Olmes hired Hayter Communications to educate the trade and consumers about the brands performance attributes. Hayter Communications currently directs public relations and corporate communications efforts for Helly Hansen, K2, Ride Snowboards, Dana Design, Valandre down products, Raleigh America, Diamondback Fitness, Skatelite and other related product and service companies.
