Douglas M. Farrago, an independent inventor who lives in Maine, filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Rawlings last month concerning Rawlings’ “Knee Reliever” pad for Baseball Catchers. Farrago holds a patent entitled “Pad Structure for Relieving Knee Stress” and has sold and marketed a product called the “Knee Saver,” which was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. In court documents obtained by SEW, Mr. Farrago is asking the court to permanently enjoin Rawlings from selling, marketing, or producing this product; require Rawlings to send a copy of any decision in this case to all Rawlings customers who sold the “Knee Reliever;” Recall all infringing products; Destroy all infringing products; and award damages plus interest along with several other stipulations.
