K2 Sports was honored by the Industrial Design Society of America (IDSA) with a Silver IDEA award for its new women’s Moxie Snow Helmet. The Industrial Design Excellence Awards recognize design innovation in a broad range of categories from consumer products to digital media and transportation. The Moxie finished among the top 60 designs out of more than 1,400 entries in the competition.

“Style and performance are critical to getting anyone to wear what is essentially a safety tool on snow,” said Joe Seagraves, Helmet Category Manager for K2. “If it doesn’t look or feel right, it’s not going to make the trip up the mountain. The Moxie exceeds safety standards and has a progressive, low profile feminine look that blends well with current outerwear and hardgood styles. The Silver IDEA is an honor and it reconfirms we’re taking the helmet industry in the right direction.”

The top IDEA winners will be recognized in the July 10 issue of BusinessWeek and through BusinessWeek.com, as well as through the IDEA Winners Showcase on IDSA.org, and an awards ceremony at the IDSA national conference in September.
