Rawlings Sporting Goods has recently been named as the official supplier of Baseballs and Helmets for the inaugural World Baseball Classic. The baseball will be used by all of the 16 participating teams, each representing a different nation or territory, whereas the batting helmet will be used by 12.
“The World Baseball Classic will showcase the game of baseball on an international stage; thereby allowing for tremendous growth opportunities both within the sport and the Rawlings brand. Rawlings is proud to be part of an event that is sure to have a lasting effect on the game that our brand is built upon,” said Robert Parish, President of Rawlings Sporting Goods.
The baseball and helmet used in the WBC will be made to the exact specifications of the MLB versions (Rawlings model ROMLB and CCMPBHSL/R respectively). The WBC baseball; however, will feature the WBC stamping in metallic gold. The WBC baseball will be available for purchase at retail beginning in February.
