PUMA has acquired the licensee of the brand’s apparel, footwear and accessories in Canada. ATA Inc., which is based in Montreal, Quebec, is owned by ATA Holding. The company has been distributing PUMA products since July 2000. PUMA said the acquisition underlines the tremendous growth and expansion of PUMA in the North American marketplace and will propel the PUMA brand as the global Sportlifestyle company accelerates its regional expansion at the start of phase IV of its long-term company development plan. The acquisition will be retroactive to January 1, 2006.

ATA Inc. has shown remarkable expertise and knowledge of their local market and has established PUMA as a viable presence in the Canadian retail marketplace. Their understanding of PUMA has proven successful through ATA’s commitment to the brand’s distribution strategy and the strength of the reputation and relationships they have established throughout the company’s 32-year history in the Canadian sporting goods industry. Since licensing the brand in July 2000, ATA Inc. has achieved solid sales growth throughout 22 consecutive quarters. The acquisition of ATA Inc. by PUMA will further secure the relationships ATA Inc. has built and take full advantage of all the
resources of PUMA.

Jochen Zeitz, CEO and Chairman of PUMA AG: “As a licensee and distributor, ATA Inc. has exceeded our expectations and has grown to be a valued and respected partner. PUMA has always been proud of our relationship with ATA as they have helped drive brand desirability in the Canadian marketplace. This business venture builds upon the success demonstrated by PUMA North America and will lead to new and exciting opportunities in Canada.”

Ted Fletcher, President of ATA Inc.: “We are extremely pleased with the new structure and we look forward to the many benefits of operating within the PUMA organization. PUMA is a remarkable company, with strong leadership, and a clear vision for the future. This is an exciting
next step in the evolution of our company.”
