Raleigh America has hired Reed Pike as director of marketing. Pike brings more than 30 years experience in the bicycle industry to the position along with a continuing passion for the sport as an active cyclist and racing fan. His experience includes retail sales and management, outside sales for Schwinn, marketing and quality management at Specialized, IBD sales and marketing at RockShox, consulting work in the industry and, most recently, outside sales for Scott USA.
“I am very excited about working with Steve Meineke and Bill Austin again, and joining the team at Kent. The next step at Raleigh is very exciting and I am thrilled to be part of the team that will make that happen.”
“The new position presents and opportunity to return to a marketing role, the scope and responsibility of the position combined with the programs and products Raleigh is working on that made the difference in my decision. My wife and I are excited about relocating back to the Northwest where we met in college. I am very grateful for having had the opportunity to work with everyone at Scott USA and in particular Scott Montgomery.”
Pike will lead the marketing effort for the Raleigh brand for the new product introductions, new technologies and new product segments, including advertising, merchandising, promotions, team and event sponsorships and public relations. He and the team will create marketing and selling tools to support new products and programs in 2005. The team will also focus on marketing the Diamondback brand around its roots in BMX and mountain bikes. Jean Austin, who led the Raleigh and Diamondback marketing team prior to Pikes hiring, will continue in a consulting role with Pike and his staff while moving over to a more focused role with the Diamondback Fitness Group. Pike will report directly to Raleighs new president Steve Meineke.
“Bill, Jean and I are thrilled to have Reed join our team. Reed is an excellent fit for Raleigh America and will ad significant value to many new initiatives in brand building, grass roots marketing, and dealer relationships.
