Quiksilver, Inc. appointed Nick Adcock to the role of President, DC Shoes, effectively immediately. Adcock will report directly to Bernard Mariette, President, Quiksilver, Inc., and will be based at DC Shoes' global headquarters in Vista, CA. DC Shoes is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Quiksilver, Inc.

Adcock has been with DC Shoes for three years and previously served as Australian General Manager, in which he set up the company's first subsidiary operation. From this role, he was promoted to handle the regional responsibilities for DC Shoes in Asia/Pacific as the Regional General Manager, during which time he had the opportunity to work closely with DC Shoes founders Ken Block and Damon Way.

“We are excited to strengthen our brand management team with the promotion of Nick from General Manager to President at DC Shoes,” said Bernard Mariette, President, Quiksilver, Inc. “With Nick leading the strategic business direction of the brand globally, we feel confident that DC Shoes will continue to fulfil its untapped potential, as it can expand beyond its impressive sales today to increase its presence both within our company and within the industry as well.”

“DC Shoes is a brand with such an amazing history of innovation and we want to thank Ken Block for his contribution as the previous President,” Mariette continued. “I know that both Damon and Ken are as excited about this restructure and about working with Nick as I am.”

“I am really psyched to have someone with such great leadership, international experience and charisma to lead the business side of DC Shoes,” said Ken Block, DC Shoes co-founder. “This is something that our company has needed for a long time. Nick's appointment to this position will help Damon and I continue to focus on the things that we do best – marketing and branding. I love doing what I do and will continue doing it for a long time.”

Block will be assuming the new role of Chief Brand Officer and will join Executive Vice President & Co-Founder Damon Way and Adcock to form the Executive Committee that will chart the future of DC Shoes.

“The appointment of Nick as the President of DC Shoes marks an incredible new era for the brand and its respective future,” said Damon Way, DC Shoes co-founder. “His ability to lead with detailed clarity, coupled with his strong leadership qualities and natural instinct for good product and marketing, makes him a force to be reckoned with in the action sports arena. The future for DC Shoes has never been so exciting and I am jazzed to be a part of it.”

While he has served as Global General Manager for DC Shoes since October 2005, Adcock will be relocating permanently to the United States in February 2006 to take on his new role. Prior to joining DC Shoes, he held senior positions with Reebok Australia and Reebok International, where he was General Manager, Boks Division and Vice President, Alternative Youth Marketing. Adcock also founded The Shop, a global youth marketing agency, which has worked with both industry and corporate clients around the world since 1997.

“This is undoubtedly one of the greatest honors of my life,” said Adcock. “I have so much respect for this brand and what Ken and Damon have created over the last 10 years. The combination of brand equity and Quiksilver's resources and expertise make the potential for DC Shoes limitless. I am stoked to be on board and am ready to take DC to the next level.”
