U.S. artist, creator and designer, Nicole McLaughlin, worked in collaboration with Puma to remake and restitch a version of Puma’s iconic 1968 silhouette in suede using a patchwork concept in which scraps of different materials in various colors were used to produce a new shoe.
Each pair is unique, differing from the next due to subtle color variations, handmade touches and asymmetrical lines.
Inspired by McLaughlin’s “playful and function-inspired design ethos,” her suede iteration of the 1968 shoe comes with a detachable lace shroud that doubles as a wallet and uses 14 percent deadstock materials and 57 percent manufacturing leftovers on the uppers.
The Puma x Nicole McLaughlin suede shoe will be available at select Puma retailers starting December 3, 2024.
