Primus is running its ‘Service For a Reason’ program offering free repair parts for select Primus backpacking stoves for the second year.

First launched in Spring 2021, Primus said it is “aiming to grow a culture of repairing gear in the outdoor industry rather than replacing it with new.”

“One very clear observation that we made in the past year is that the appetite for spending time outdoors is not slowing down,” said Becky Day, marketing manager, Primus. “With that comes the need for people to keep their gear running in top shape so they can rely on it when they set out on their next adventure. We have prioritized serviceability in our design process for more than a century, allowing our users to repair their stoves when needed easily; this not only allows our stoves to become lifelong companions, but it’s also a better approach to sustainability.”

In 2021, Primus delivered over 150 parts to customers.

“We were excited to see our customers inquiring about replacement parts for their stoves last year and viewed the initial campaign as a win,” said Day. “By providing more ways for people to learn about ‘Service For a Reason’ and how they can utilize the opportunity to fix up their trusted cooking companion, we anticipate growing the number of requests received to keep more stoves in the field for a long life of adventures.”

The program runs from February 1 through March 31. Primus customers can request free parts for most of the brand’s backpacking and multi-fuel stoves here.
