Xtracycle, pioneers in cargo bike design for over 25 years, announces the debut of its newest electric cargo bike, the Hopper. Designed to be the most intuitive, compact family cargo bicycle on the market, the Hopper combines Xtracycle’s renowned ride quality with accessibility, versatility, and impressive hauling capabilities.

Featuring a sleek profile with a smaller wheelbase and accessible frame for riders ranging from 5’ to 6’ 5”, the Hopper embodies clever engineering that ensures exceptional stability and handling. With overall length comparable to most regular bicycles, this compact cargo powerhouse offers a robust carrying capacity of 500 pounds.

“We’ve taken everything we’ve learned about cargo bikes and wrapped it up in this nimble, easy-to-use package,” says Steve Zourntos, Head of Product at Xtracycle. “Capable for school drop-offs and compact enough for continuing on to commute or errands, and even park vertically, it’s the perfect solution for urban families.”

In a first for Xtracycle, the Hopper features a throttle for effortless starts and acceleration, especially useful when fully loaded. Outfitted with essential accessories like the Hooptie passenger bars and front PorterRack, along with full-coverage fenders, integrated lights, and a sturdy center kickstand, this bike is ready to roll right out of the box. Key features include:

  • 750 W rear hub motor
  • 720 Watt hour battery
  • Torque sensor assists up to 28 mph
  • 20″ wheels
  • 60 miles on a single charge
  • Hydraulic disc brakes
  • Front suspension fork
  • Suspension-dropper post

“Ride quality and functional, durable features were paramount in the Hopper design, but making it fun to ride and easy to integrate into your daily life, goes a step further to achieve our goal to welcome more riders into the cargo community,” says Zourntos.
