Vail, Colorado, April 2, 2020 – Our team at Wildsyde hopes our community is staying safe, acting responsibly, and finding ways to maintain healthy habits during these unprecedented times. It is easy to become overwhelmed by the disruption of our daily routine and feelings of uncertainty, which makes prioritizing mental and physical well-being, as much as circumstances allow, particularly important.
First and foremost, we encourage you to follow CDC guidelines, stay up to date on local ordinances, and most of all, take care of yourselves, your families, friends and neighbors.
We are glad to share that PeopleforBikes™ is currently lobbying federal, state and local governments to label bicycling and bike shops as “essential” in regions facing travel and business restrictions. The goal is to allow local bike shops to continue providing valuable services to you and your community, just like an auto repair shop or gas station.
As dedicated recreationalists, our company values the peace of mind that being outside and staying active can offer. While many of our normal daily activities may be restricted, cycling offers a healthy break and can invigorate us by boosting immunity and optimism. Wildsyde Vintage eCruisers brings you some helpful tips for your personal health from PeopleforBikes™
While we always recommend using a professional bike shop for repairs and maintenance, here are a few resources for basic tune ups, so you can take a physical and mental break from sheltering indoors during these difficult times.
At home checklist to prep your bike for spring outings.
PeopleForBikes,”encourages everyone to create a menu of personal self-care activities that they enjoy, such as spending time with friends and family live online, following exercise videos, walking, running, biking or reading a book on your list! Be a role model. Take breaks, get plenty of sleep, help others, and eat well.” Additional recommendations that can helpful for all of us:
- Take more breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories, including social media. Hearing about the pandemic repeatedly can be upsetting.
- Take care of your body. Take deep breaths, stretch, or meditate. Try to eat healthy, well-balanced meals, exercise regularly, get plenty of sleep, and avoid alcohol and drugs.
- Make time to unwind. Try to do some other activities you enjoy around the home.
- Connect with others live online. Talk with people you trust about your concerns and how you are feeling.
Note: For most areas that are under Shelter in Place restrictions, exercise is deemed essential and includes bike riding; “for fitness-conscious Denverites wondering what the city’s new stay-at-home order means for them, the bottom line is this: Outdoor exercise has been included among ‘essential activities’ in the order issued Monday” according to Bob McDonald, Denver’s public health administrator.
About Wildsyde: New Vintage e-Cruisers @ Wildsyde.com
Paul Hields, the President and Owner of Sportube hard cases for winter sports equipment, was inspired to found Wildsyde in Vail, Colorado, when his wife of 25 years, Margo, was facing health problems that made regular road and mountain biking a challenge. E-bikes offered a unique solution for cruising along the bike path, commuting to work, running errands, or meeting up with friends—all while leaving the car at home. Wildsyde’s line of vintage-inspired eCruisers have been designed and tested with adventure and practicality at their core. Introduced to the U.S. market in spring 2019.
