Boulder, CO (February 1, 2023) -Paka, the leading innovator in alpaca apparel, today launches their new thermal line featuring a 100% natural blend of alpaca fiber and tencel. This first-of-its-kind base layer system, featuring both top and bottom options, allows users to wear exclusively natural material next to skin with a high concentration of ultra-soft alpaca fiber.
Alpaca fiber is the pinnacle of base layer material: its medullated air pockets make it more insulating than synthetics and typical wool, it contains a keratin protein that makes it naturally antimicrobial to eliminate odor and has a low moisture retention rate at 8%, compared to traditional wools that average 20%. The Thermals contain 85% Royal Alpaca fiber, the finest selection of alpaca wool with a softness that rivals cashmere, in a high concentration that amplifies the natural benefits of alpaca.
“We are so proud to release a true thermal system for warmth and temperature regulation. We worked so hard to create this final product, and even invested into new machinery to do so”, said Paka CEO and Founder, Kris Cody. “This blend also hits the highest percentage of alpaca we’ve ever used and is composed of 100% natural fibers touching your body. I’ve now tested these Thermals on adventures throughout South America and proudly stand behind it keeping you warm and safe in any environment.”
Paka’s new thermals are designed with mobility as a top priority. A 2×2 ribknit construction hugs the body with natural stretch and recovery while gusseted arm holes and a back yoke allow for easy movement.
The thermal tops and bottoms are made with 100% Traceable Alpaca. Each thermal features a QR code hangtag with a link to the exact coordinates of the farm that the fiber was sourced from. The Women and Men’s Thermal Top and Thermal Bottom are offered in Black.
