OROS is pleased to announce its partnership with Akimbo Communications to oversee the company’s communications and media relations in North America.
OROS, founded by college friends and self-proclaimed science geeks Michael Markesbery and Rithvik Venna, was born out of Michael’s trouble staying warm during a climbing trip to the Alps, despite being bundled in layers of down. Sharing his gripes with Rithvik, the two friends looked to the most extreme conditions imaginable – space. Michael soon picked up a scholarship from the Mercury 7 Astronauts and the two spent the remainder of college developing SolarCore. Incorporating aerogel, the least thermally conductive solid known to humankind, the two were able to do what nobody else had previously done; create an aerogel-composite, breathable and durable enough, to be used in apparel. The result is OROS’ proprietary material, SolarCore, providing unparalleled insulation, in just 2mm.
Effective immediately, Akimbo will collaborate with the brand to communicate key technologies and innovations, company stories and corporate initiatives, and promote its new collection of performance soft goods.
Founded in 2008 and based in Portland, Oregon, Akimbo Communications specializes in the outdoor, action sports and active lifestyle industries.
